FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  for more information please call John Kranjc

The Greater Conley Industrial Community Improvement District (GCI-CID) has been approved unanimously by formal Resolution of the DeKalb County Commission.  Commissioners Kathie Gannon appointed Steve Levetan of Pull A Part and Larry Johnson appointed Beverly Dabney of HEH Paving to the GCI-CID Board of Directors on June 14th, 2016.

GCI-CID was formed from the business owners of CABA (Conley Area Business Association).  CABA and key business owners in the area paid for the feasibility study to start the CID formation process. CABA President Joel Gross, owner of a vehicle decal company called Sticky Business, stated "A CID is the tool that allows landowners and businesses to build partnerships with the County, State of Georgia, GDOT, and powerful Federal agencies. But most of all, CIDs determine the directions and priorities for growth of the community as the formula for success.  This is the American experience at her best!"

Conley is located in south DeKalb County including the intersections of Interstates 285, 675 and 75.  The new CID is wholly inside DeKalb County but is on the Clayton County border.  This industrial area is prized for its convenient location to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and is the base for many logistics companies servicing this major transportation hub.

The full Board was elected at the first Board meeting on June 29th at Arch Wood Protection Technical Center in Conley, GA.  Arch Wood Corporation had generously provided meeting space, use of their office equipment and personnel to form the new CID.  Former Arch Wood Protection Director of Manufacturing and Supply Chain, John Kranjc, supervised the formation process and the necessary mapping and database work.

The full Board of Directors for the Greater Conley Industrial CID consists of:
Joel Gross (Chair), Sticky Business; Wayne Smith (Vice Chair), FEPCO; Rob Roark (Secretary-Treasurer), All South Warehouse; Steve Levetan, Pull A Part; Steve Cash, Transport America; Beverly Dabney, HEH Paving; and Thomas McNally, Arch Wood Protection.

A grant from the Decide DeKalb Development Authority (DDDA) and the support of its President, Mr. Ray Gilley, allowed for aggressive formation of the new Greater Conley Industrial CID. Albert Chambers, contracted to work for CABA and now an officer of the CID, presented the formation committee with a list of 147 properties that are now included within the new CID boundaries.

Wayne Smith, FEPCO property owner in Conley and founding member of CABA stated, "We have worked through the years to make the Conley/Bouldercrest area a better place to live and work.  We realized that the only way in today's society to take care of the services we needed in a particular business area is to take leadership by addressing the issues with a CID."
